Hill College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sagar Paudel as the new Dean of the STEM Pathway.
Dr. Paudel steps into this role having already been a member of the Hill College family as an assistant professor of physics and astronomy for the last six years. Prior to coming to the college, he taught at Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan, and at Lawrence Tech University in Southfield, Michigan.
“For more than a decade, I have had the joy of being an educator, helping students to grow and thrive. This is my seventh year at Hill College, and the past six years here have been nothing short of incredible. I’ve learned, grown, and become a better educator through this journey. Leading the STEM Pathway is truly an honor, and I’m thankful for this opportunity. Together, we’ll keep moving the STEM Program at Hill College moving forward, meeting the challenges and opportunities of today,” said Dr. Paudel.
Dr. Paudel has co-authored two articles—“Thermally oxidized 2D TaS2 as a high-K gate dielectric for MoS2 field-effect transistors”1 and “Citizen CATE 2024: Extending Totality During the 8 April 2024 Total Solar Eclipse with a Distributed Network of Community Participants”2.
He has received numerous awards, including the National Institute for Staff Organization and Development (NISOD) for Teaching Excellence in both 2021 and 2025, the Cause for Applause award from Hill College in 2024, and the 2015 Emil and John & Mary Kaczor Endowed Graduate Teaching Assistant award.
“Over the past decade, Sagar has dedicated his career to higher education with a clear focus on student achievement and the advancement of STEM opportunities. He is a strong advocate for accessible learning and has a passion for building community through science. He has been deeply involved in scientific outreach and community partnerships, while also engaging in professional development through various organizations to continually strengthen his work and role in leading students. By fostering both internal and external collaborations, he has created opportunities for students to engage with ideas beyond the classroom and to see the broader relevance of their education.
“Dr. Paudel brings people together around a shared vision of accessible, engaging, and community-driven education,” said Vice President of Student Learning & Success and Chief Academic Officer Irene Accomando.
Dr. Paudel holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in physics from Tribhuvan University in Kirtipur, Nepal, and a doctorate in physics from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
